The City of Federal Way Public Works is looking for art submissions to help add color and creativity to the new Operations & Maintenance Facility!
Applicants are invited to submit up to three conceptual renderings for consideration. They may be a sketch or a completed illustration in any media. Interested artists may submit illustrations that fit the theme of the container and the size and shape restrictions for each utility box. The selection committee will evaluate then choose from the artwork submitted. Selected artists will be contacted to discuss the next step in getting art on the container. Final artwork will be digitized, transferred to vinyl, and installed on the garbage/recycling containers. Artists selected will be awarded $200 for their designs.
Winning entries will be selected based on the theme βNatural Beauty of Federal Wayβ. Seeking artwork that tells the story of Federal Wayβs ecosystem- from waterways to the Sound to parks and green spaces. Artists should draw inspiration from one or more of the following:
- Waterways- Federal Way has 4 watersheds, 10 lakes, and hundreds of miles of streams that connect to the Puget Sound.
- Greenery- Federal Way maintains 32 parks and 2 major trails, keeping Federal Way full of lush greenery and natural environments.
Project Specs:
There are 4 different styles of utility boxes to be wrapped. Designs should be based on specific sizes in the specs. In the absence of sizing instructions, it's important to create designs that can be effortlessly resized or enlarged later, ensuring they align closely with the designated box.
