S 348TH ST NHS (9TH AVE S TO PACIFIC HWY S) PRESERVATION PROJECT
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The project proposes to replace existing curb ramps and pedestrian push buttons to meet ADA standards; full width planing bituminous pavement; HMA pavement repair; 2 Β½β thick HMA overlay; removal and replacement of existing dual-faced sloped mountable curb; replacement of traffic signal detection loops; and channelization.
PUBLIC BENEFIT:
- Improved driver safety
- Improved conditions for non-motorized users with ADA upgrades
- Extended life of the road surface
PROJECT COST: $1,116,000
TIMELINE: UNDER CONSTRUCTION
CONSTRUCTION: September 2023 - Spring 2024
Project Updates:
- 9/11/23 - The project was awarded to Miles Resources, Inc. Survey work has begun with the demolition of the ADA ramps at S 348th and 9th Ave S to occur later this week. Concrete/ADA ramps should take approximately 2 weeks followed by nighttime grinding and paving (weather permitting). Anticipate permanent striping may need to be completed Spring 2024.
- 9/19/23 - Construction has started on concrete at S 348th and 9th to bring the curb ramps up to current ADA standards.
