The following is Federal Way’s current and anticipated major street construction (7-2-26) 

(Note: minor road and/or short term street impacts are not reflected here).

CURRENT WORK:

S 320th  - 1st Ave to Pacific Hwy S Preservation Project (Project Information): Starting in June 2026 and continuing through the summer, the city’s contractor, Miles Resources, will be completing ADA upgrades and pavement grinding and overlay on S 320th between 1st Ave S and Pacific Hwy S. Current work requires temporary  daytime outside lane closures.

21st Ave SW  - SW 338th to SW 320th Preservation Project (Project Information): Starting in June 2026 and continuing through the summer, the city’s contractor, ICON Materials, will be completing ADA upgrades and pavement grinding and overlay on 21st Ave SW between SW 338th and SW 320th Streets. Current work requires temporary daytime outside lane closures.

2026 Overlay Program (Project Information): Starting in April 2026 and continuing through the summer, the city’s contractor, Northwest Asphalt, will be completing pavement overlays in several locations throughout the city. Click on the project information link for maps of the overlay areas.

2025 Pedestrian Crossings (Project Information): Starting in March 2026 (through August 2026), temporary lane closures will be required to construct two new pedestrian crossings will be installed at the following locations:

  1. 1st Way S – north of S 340th Street.
  2. Weyerhaeuser Way S – just so of S 344th Way.

288th Road Diet (Ph. 2) – Pacific Hwy to Military Road (Project Information): This work is on suspension until the traffic signal equipment is delivered. Work to complete the traffic signal replacement at Military Road is anticipated to restart in July 2026.

Citywide Pedestrian Safety Project (Project Information) Various locations. A new contractor has been secured to complete this project and restarting July 6, 2026.

              SW 320th at 45th Place SW: Starting July 6, 2026: completing sidewalk and patching. Outside lane closure required.
