The City’s Emergency Management Division in the Mayor's Office works closely with the Federal Way Police DepartmentFederal Way Public Schools District #210Lakehaven Utility District, South King Fire and Rescue and many other organizations to help better prepare the greater Federal Way community for disasters through public education, training, exercises, planning and building interagency cooperation.

During a disaster, local emergency information may be found:

  • 900 AM Radio (the city’s new low-watt radio station), radio station reception is best outdoors or in your vehicle
  • City of Federal Way website
  • Local television Channel 21 

CodeRED Emergency Notification System

The CodeRED Emergency Notification System is an ultra high-speed telephone communication service, allowing us to telephone all or targeted areas of the city when an emergency situation requires immediate action to save lives and protect property.

All Federal Way businesses should register, as well as all individuals who live in Federal Way and have unlisted phone numbers, who have changed their phone number or address within the last year or who use a cellular phone as their primary home phone.
