PROJECT LOCATION

This project is located on various City‑owned preservation properties between South 356th Street and South 373rd Street, in the vicinity of Pacific Highway South. A map showing our initial proposed alignments is provided below.

PROJECT SCOPE

This project will construct a non-motorized trail system to provide citizens with recreational boardwalk access, wildlife viewing, and environmental education in the wetlands south of city center. The project will improve recreational opportunities for active hikers, families, or casual walkers with the trail loop estimated to span more than four miles. This project will feature composite decking for the boardwalk; observation decks; and interpretive signs informing visitors about the flora, fauna, & history of the area.

PROJECT SCHEDULE

This project is in the early design & study phase and is anticipated to be constructed in 2027 - 2028.

PROJECT FUNDING

This project is funded through storm-water use fees.

PROJECT UPDATE

03/24/26: The project remains in the early design and study phase. We are continuing to evaluate potential trail alignments through field analysis and survey work. In addition, several segments may require access across neighboring properties, and we are assessing potential land acquisition and access agreements as part of the alignment review. A map of our data collection to date can be seen in the project location.
