A neighborhood traffic safety meeting was held virtually via Zoom on 11/21/2024. The attendees generally agreed that reducing speeding along 16th Ave S was a priority. Although many traffic calming countermeasures were considered, Option 1 as described on the attached ballot and map, was the most popular option. The proposed option should help to reduce vehicular speeds as well as improve safety for pedestrians and bicyclists along 16th Ave S.
Remainder of the Process:
Installation of traffic calming devices must meet the following requirements:
- Balloting of residents within 600 feet of the proposed traffic calming device, measured along the roadway or whose sole access would be affected.
- 51% of the returned ballots must vote affirmatively.
- The City Councilβs Land Use & Transportation Committee (LUTC) must concur.
- Full City Council must approve.
Please take the time to fill out this ballot and return to the City by 4/10/2026. To be counted, the ballot must be postmarked on or before the stated due date. If the proposed traffic calming devices are approved by LUTC and City Council, the Public Works will authorize the construction of the project as soon as the schedule permits.
